The Virginia Child
Care Resource and Referral Network (VACCRRN) is a valuable resource
for child care providers. A network consisting of 14 member
agencies, VACCRRN provides child care resource and referral services
throughout the state of Virginia. Each member agency is
unique, providing services tailored to its local community’s
needs. There are many services which members provide to
the child care community. Among these are:

Providing parents seeking child care with
referrals to child care providers based upon the stated needs
of the family. As a member of the National Association
of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA), VACCRRN
members cannot endorse or recommend any child care provider,
but rather provides a randomized list based upon the criterion
provided by the parents.

Technical assistance on a variety of early child care
and education issues, including but not limited to child
health and safety, business administration, budget management,
curriculum development and parent interaction.

Obtaining and providing the latest research available
on child development and early childhood education.

Resources for providers to utilize in creating parent
newsletters and developing materials for parents.

Free newsletters with information on local resources,
community events, child care trainings, educational opportunities
and professional development.

Collecting and collating data on a variety of issues,
including child care rates and availability, child care
needs, workforce issues and community needs for providers
to utilize in program development, advocating for public
policy and funding initiatives.

Some agencies have lending libraries which include children’s
books and toys, parent information materials and a variety
of media resources on many subjects that are of interest
to child care providers. |
