The Virginia Child Care Resource and Referral
Network (VACCRRN) is a statewide network of 14 locally-based
child care resource and referral agencies which assist parents
in finding child care that meets their family’s particular
needs. VACCRRN member agencies support parents in many
ways:
| • |
Parents receive referrals to child care providers
from experienced child care resource and referral specialists.
|
| • |
Parents may consult with resource and referral specialists
to discern from the many types of child care available the
type that will best address their child’s needs.
|
| • |
Parents are provided with consumer education information
to enable them to evaluate the quality of child care they
select and why the quality of care selected is important
for their child.
|
| • |
Parents can access information on child development
to better understand their child’s behavior.
|
| • |
Parents may consult with child care resource and referral
specialists on a wide range of parenting issues.
|
Parents can educate themselves with information and data on a variety of child
care issues such as public policy, cost of care and range of quality at a local,
state and national level.
As a recognized member of the National Association of Child
Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA), VACCRRN members
cannot selectively endorse or recommend any child care provider,
but rather provide a randomized list of providers based upon
the criterion provided by the parents requesting referrals.
